The quiet engine of our common life is Life Groups. This fall we will have three groups. They are flexible - anyone can join or try out multiple / all the groups. These groups will begin the week following September 13th.

Women's Retreat
All women in the church are invited to a day retreat. These have been times of great fruitfulness both spiritually and relationally. More details to come.
Men's Retreat
Men in our church will be going away for our first Men's Retreat. Our time will focus on prayer and shared experience. More details to come.
All Saints Sunday
A feast honoring all saints, known and unknown, celebrating the "communion of saints," the unity of all believers, living and departed, as one Body in Christ.

The Hall of Men is back! Celebratory drinks + lecture + discussion.
Fall Launch
This Sunday is our Fall kickoff as a church. Hopekids begins! We will begin a new series in Ephesians.
Church & potluck at the park
Labor Day weekend, we will have church and a potluck at the park. This year we will have an abbreviated service together that includes some Q&A about what is ahead of us as a church. Note the change in venue.
What to Bring:
1. Chairs: There are some picnic tables, but fewer than in the past. If you have a camping chair, please bring it!
2. Food: It's a potluck! Bring something good to share. (The church will provide plates, plasticware, and water)

We are meeting at the upper shelter at Terrace Park. Click here for the location.
We are not gathering at the bandshell.
What about the weather?
There is an increasing chance of rain tomorrow. If it is raining or excessively soggy, we will pivot to our normal location, Haven. An email will go out by 8.30 tomorrow morning with the definitive plan. If you are unsure, text Pastor Dave at 605.400.3789.
Family Camp
Save the date for Family Camp (not camp for families, but camp for the Family).
What is it? Every year, our whole church family goes away for the weekend to build relationships, have some adventures, and grow in our knowledge and love of the Lord. From Friday afternoon until Sunday morning, we have fire pits, games, swimming, and time unhurried time. Together. This year Family Camp is at Inspiration Hills. It is open to anyone - even if you are not a regular part of our common life. Our goal is always 100% of our community, so we are eager to help make that happen.

PACKING LIST
Potluck at the Carlson's House
Let's gather! Saturday after the holiday weekend we will head up to short drive to the Carlsons farm. It is a POTLUCK, so bring something to share. Also, bring a camping chair or blanket. Arrive any time after 4. We'll eat at 5. All are welcome.

Hall of Men – Summer Grill Out
We take a break to just be together. This will be our only Hall of Men gathering this summer, so come out and hang!
Youth Trip to Rosebud Reservation
Save the date!
Our first annual youth trip is coming. For incoming 6th graders on up, we will be heading to Mission, SD on the Rosebud Reservation to support a church plant three years old. We will be doing a service project as well as some outreach within the community, partnering with the church there. More details will be coming, but pencil in the dates for your young people!
Palm Burning Party
We burn the palms from the previous year to use as ashes for Ash Wednesday the following year.
This year, we'll do it at Nathan and Jennifer's alongside a backyard hang! Come as you can! Bonfires, hot dogs/sausages, s'mores, yard games, fellowship!
Pentecost Party
This is one of the highlights of our life together. Every family unit is encouraged to bring a gift to share. In the past, people have sung a song, read a story, shared original poetry or stories, made stained glass, brought pottery, done a skit... you get the idea. This is one of the great times we have. Stay tuned. The theme this year is ALIVE.
Hall of Men
Hall of Men is on the third Thursday evening of the month. Celebratory drinks + lecture + discussion. We will meet in April and May and then switch gears for the summer.
Ascension Day Celebration
We will gather for a picnic at McKennan Park to celebrate the ascension of Jesus to his throne. Mostly we eat, play, and fly kites. Come out and celebrate the first days of summer!
Easter Season Study
For three Sunday evenings, we will have a study together on household liturgies. What does it mean to be intentional in shaping our lives at home to train our affections (not just learn more things). We'll be leaning on the book Habits of the Household: Practicing the Story of God in Everyday Family Rhythms.

Holy Saturday – No Service
We don't have scheduled events, but invite people to observe this solemn day between death and resurrection.
Good Friday Service
We spend time corporately remembering the death of Jesus on the cross for the sins of the world.
Maundy Thursday Service
We commemorate the Last Supper as Jesus turns toward the cross.
Midday Prayer – Wednesdays during Lent
We are highlighting Midday Prayer on Wednesdays. This can be brief (8 minutes if you just run through it) or longer (if you discuss the readings or pray out loud together). We will pray for 20 minutes and be done before or at 12:35.
